TW #47: At the Movies
And we are back! We begin this episode with a lively discussion on The Force Awakens. Sigh. I was so disappointed in the movie. This has been 4 months since the movie came out and I am in pain. I said that I had no emotional response….but I did because I am so in pain still from in movie.
And for the record, JJ Abrams has announced recently that he made a mistake having Leia hug Rey instead of Chewie. You can read that here.
I can go on and on about how disappointed I am in the movie. So how about we start the show notes for Trivial Warfare’s first ever all movie question show!

Enjoy those?? Well let’s get the show going! Remember that all the questions in this episode are movie questions. All movies all the time. It is a movie grudge match between Daniel Richardson versus yours truly, Chris Hollister. So the movie grudge match begins now!

A: Sir Alec Guinness
Q: What well known film writer set many of his films in the fictional town of Shermer, IL?

Sigh…Jonathan said fictional how many times and I kept thinking it was real. Still nailed the question. AWESOME! And Daniel talking about Dogma…this is so funny. You will see in a minute. Can you say foreshadowing??
Movies that either feature or talk about Shermer, IL:
The Breakfast Club
Pretty In Pink
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
National Lampoon's Vacation
She's Having A Baby
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
All John Hughes (he either wrote or directed) movies with the exception of Dogma.
After one round, I am up 30 to 20. This looks to be a good match up Warheads!
Category: Box Office
Q: According to the website, TheNumbers.com which Monty Python movie made the most money based on their box office numbers?
A: Life of Brian
Q: Name the movie these three characters appear in: Rufus, Cardinal Glick and Loki.
This is a classic blown question by Daniel! It was so funny that he knew the move two questions earlier and did not know the answer now. Just awesomeness.
Q: Akira Kurosawa’s The Seven Samurai was the inspiration for what popular western staring Charles Bronson and James Coburn?
A: The Magnificent Seven
You know who else is magnificent?? This guy!! I am up 50 to 30. C’mon Daniel, bring this! And I cannot believe I messed up Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon…sigh.
Q: What did the license plate say on the Ghostbusters car in the movies Ghostbusters?

Q: What fraternity do Lewis and Gilbert join in the movie, Revenge of the Nerds?
A: Lambda Lambda Lambda
Q: There are eight actors who have won an Oscar and a Razzie. Name them.
A: Laurence Olivier, Liza Minelli, Faye Dunaway, Kevin Costner, Roberto Benigni, Ben Affleck, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock
Here is the article Jonathan drafted that question from:
Problem is, the answer is much more than just those eight. If you ask Jonathan now, I am sure he would not have included this question. There are actually thirteen that I was able to find. The other five are: Al Pacino, Prince, Sofia Coppola, Charlton Heston and Marlon Brando. So Sylvester Stallone shockingly has never won a Razzie. I am not sure why Roberto Benigni is not on the source I found….but here is my source in case you want to see it.
Here is Halle Berry’s Razzie acceptance speech.
Q: What was the name of the mechanical shark in the movie Jaws?
What did I tell you?? Sucking begins now…sigh. I had to run my mouth.
Q: Ed Norton played Lester Murphy in the movie Rounders. What was his nickname?
As many awesome movies as Jonathan has NOT seen and he has seen Rounders??? Really??? Notice my sucking has continued??
Category: Mel Brooks
Q: In the movie Spaceballs, what does the bumper sticker say on the back of Lonestar’s ship?
A: I heart Uranus
Sucking continues…and I cannot believe I missed a Spaceballs question. UGH!!!
After 4 rounds I have 80 and Daniel is getting back in to it with 55.
Category: That’s so Meta
Q: In the movie, Scream, Sydney makes a joke about the actress that would play her in a movie that was made from their experience. Who was that actress?
A: Tori Spelling
Again, since I ran my mouth, I have gotten a total of ZERO questions right. Moral of the story? Do not run your mouth Chris!
Q: What actor played Caine, the first character to die in the movie Alien?
A: John Hurt
Category: Tri-bond: Actors
Q: These three actors played in what movie together: Tiny Lister, Luke Perry and Chris Tucker?
A: The Fifth Element
So after five rounds Daniel and I have ourselves a battle, but I am still leading 100 to 75.
Category: Easter Eggs
Q: The room number of the classroom used for graphic design in character animation at the California Institute for the Arts has been included as an Easter egg in every Pixar movie to date. What is that room number?

A: 1960 for Butterfield Eight and 1966’s Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
So going in to the final question, Chris is leading (but as Jonathan said, not as a runaway), 110 to 75. Let’s see who can win this thing??
Category: Box Office
Q: Put these four John Candy movies in order from highest box office money earned to lowest money earned:
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
