Thanks for checking out episode 19 of Trivial Warfare! Chris won’t be with us, but we have some awesome replacements in the second episode featuring the team of Chip, Carmela and Kel. These guys did a great job picking up the slack and it I think the fun we had comes through in the show. We think you’ll enjoy this crazy episode that features Deep Throat, the Stink Palm and Jane’s Addiction.
Be sure to check out the show notes at www.trivialwarfare.com to go a little bit deeper and see the handpicked pictures and videos that are related to this weeks show.
First appearing in 1987 on the Discovery Channel, what annual celebration will begin this year on July 5?
Who was Bob Woodward’s secret Watergate Contact.
Deep Throat was FBI investigator Mark Felt. Felt died in 2008. A tip from me to you, don’t do a youtube search for Deep Throat unless you include the word Watergate in the search.
This is an awesome video that summarizes the Watergate scandal in a less than 2 minutes. It is recommended watching, particularly if you’ve never really paid attention to Watergate in the past.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
So I don’t know much about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but I do know that this. If Matthew McConaughey’s career had ended after his part in the movie below his contribution to American pop culture would have been no less significant – alright, alright, alright

Chicago Cubs 1981 – 1997
I can’t help but do a little tribute to Harry Caray here. Here are some pictures and a video to celebrate this great announcer.
Harry Caray (1914-1988) broadcast MLB games for 52 years. The power of TV and time are amazing. Looking back at his career it is apparent that Caray was one of the great voices in Cardinals history behind perhaps only Jack Buck. Interestingly, Caray was the broadcaster for the White Sox Disco Demolition Night fiasco in 1979. After joining the Cubs and the expansion of WGN into homes across the US in the 80’s Caray became a national treasure. He wasn’t the most accurate broadcaster, but he was probably the most beloved.

Who was the first president elected in the 1900’s
We really flubbed this question. I knew that Roosevelt became president in 1901 due to the assassination of McKinley but I never realized that McKinley had been elected for a second term. I was under the impression that the assassination occurred near the end of his first term. Live and learn.
He doesn't look happy about the election...maybe he knew what was coming.
